Message from Keith Taylor - the boss for 40 years...

I went along to Cramlington Folk Club for the first time in September 1972. I must have enjoyed the experience as I am still going.

I very quickly became a regular and was soon involved in the running of the club. The Club was started by Terry and Sandy Dean, and when they left to go and live in the USA, I, with the help of my wife Audrey and the residents at the time, especially Gary Hogg and Ray Hooker, took on the mantel of organiser, a job I have been doing since September 1982.

I do believe that it is wrong to put labels on music and like any kind of music or song that is well performed. What never ceases to amaze me is the amount of local talent that is around. Over the years regular performers have left for a variety of reasons but the gap has always been filled by some new performers of equal or even better standard.

I do have favourites and it is usually the performer that is up on stage at that time!

Anyone who runs a Club for this long can't be all bad, or can they?...
